Thanks for sharing Professor.

I started a never-ending project similar to yours about fifty years ago, but ran out of time, energy and enthusiasm. I KNOW this is a huge task and is a true labor of love. Thank you!
Please note that 1960 Pt. 8, 106-120 does not have an active link.

Cheers,
Mike

I also cannot get part 8.

Thanks Prof. Huge undertaking. Much appreciated. I've searched my server for your first list of missing sides with no luck. With so many Joni James CD's available I'm surprised her missing side was never reissued. Part 8 didn't get linked. Thanks again.

I have reorganized the links and by this occasion I have lost link to Part.8 Now, it is repared. 1960 alone gives 82 instalments, 21 rows of links, four links in one row and I plan to complete this year by the end of 2018, January 2019 at the latest. Thank you for your words of support. I need them.

Here's the missing 153A (which must have been an error as it's a readily available recording). Thanks for 11 & 12.

And the good news. Now I've compiled Pt.26. 16 to go and I should finish them by the 20th of November, 25th at the latest.

Hello, Professor, I have the two missing LaVern Baker tracks...Shadows of Love, and Wheel of Fortune. They are studio versions...no scratches or pings, but they are only @192. They came from a release of her singles, both A&B sides. Are you interested?

Professor RnR said...

They are not missing! They are in Pt. 13 in 320. You may find the list of 21 missing B-sides above, October the 8th.

wikkid.pissa said...

Hello Prof. Here is the missing track from Part 18.
270B Dorothy Collins - The Happy Heart Of Paris
https://www14.zippyshare.com/v/0sMm7v8q/file.html

Also, Prof's effort here has reminded me of a big 1966 singles project I did a few years ago. About 2,300 singles that charted somewhere around the world in 1966. The download link is just a text file that explains what it is and has download links if it is of interest to anyone.

1. Thanks for Dorothy Collins. Fantastic song. Unbelievable how many fantastic songs of the 60s completely disappeared. This music is like sesame for Ali Baba.
2. You’ve done an impressive work collecting tracks that charted in 1966 on all Billboard lists. According to my Excel spreadsheet (link above): 1023 charted Hot 100 + BU + Xmas, 69 charted AC (you’ve forgotten this chart), 35 R&B, 158 Country and it looks that I have all A-sides (your numbers are slightly different, especially what regards Country chart and I’ll have to check why). Then, I’ve started exploring B-sides and found many gems among them. After 6 weeks of work I’m finishing 1960, all links will appear soon. Then, I should reach 1966 in the mid of 119, if everything will be doing well, my passion will not vanish anyway.

Professor RnR said...

For R&B and Country I've included only top 40 and this is probably why my numbers differ from yours

Professor RnR said...

I have downloaded all except one parts (link to part 14 is the same as for part 13 and can you give this missing link). 108 hours of fantastic music. I’ve been searching for Adult Contemporary chart hits, that didn’t appear elsewhere, but I didn’t find them in your compilation. Anyway, it’s nice to have all A’s of 1966, except AC, in one place. In my opinion, 1966 was one of the most fruitful years in modern music, peak of British invasion + best year of US garage.

Mike Britcom said...

Prof, I just downloaded 13, 14, 15.
13 is It's Not Easy - Normie Rowe to Leave - Buffalo Springfield
14 is Left Out - Jesse Johnson to Love Is Like An Itching - The Supremes
15 is Love Is Me - Connie Francis to Mr Bang Bang Man - Little Hank

My goal wasn't to collate every song on a Billboard chart. I just used the resources I had available as a guide to gather enough singles from 1966 to last me on my driving trips that summer.
If I only used music I really liked it would have been all obscure garage and northern soul tracks.
I wanted to avoid that and just immerse myself back into the year the way it was with the good, the bad and the really bad.
There are a lot of obscure A-sides in the collection that I thought some people may be interested in obtaining.
I cleaned up a lot of the vinyl tracks, using a wav editor to cut out ticks, clean up the beginning and ends, adjust the EQ to give a fuller sound and adjust volume.
Some of the biggest hits of that period are only available on CD in so-called "stereo" which is actually just the 3-track master that are apt to be really out of balance. All the music compressed on one channel, the vocals on another, and overdubs on the third. In those cases I isolated the 3 tracks and made new mono mixes from them.

Wow, you've been busy. The last time I looked you had 20 up and I thought that was pretty amazing! Thanks for all of these. No to find time to listen to them all! :)

Thank you for all the great music! Just thought I would let you know that Ernie Fields' "Chattanooga Choo Choo" in Volume 7 is incorrect. It is actually a repeat of Monty Kelly's "Summer Set." The "Complete Instrumental Hits of 1960" where I assume you obtained it is incorrect in the track numbering. Ernie Fields is actually track 19 rather than track 20 as listed on the cd sleeve. Thanks again!

Professor RnR said...

Thanks a lot for this remark. I hate such mistakes but they are inevitable - I plan to compile 20.000 tracks (60's then 50's). My mistake has been already corrected.

jim kosmicki said...

this is a truly amazing and wonderful project. As others have said, now I simply need to find time to listen to all of this!

Just to add to the chaos, in Vol 7, when you corrected Chattanooga Choo Choo, The Chipmunks fell out and have gone missing.

Thank Professor for this incredible project,

Wow, I will check right now and correct. Thanks.

High Prof.,
What has happended to Part-43 Teresa Brewer's, B01 [How Do You Know It's Love] and it's B-side [If There Are Stars In My Eyes]?

Professor RnR said...

Well. It's been the bonus, from UK Top 40, not the US Top 100. I've added one track, re-issue of Xmas and that way one bonus dropped out. You can find UK Top 40, A's & B's, on Dusty's Old Gold Music blog

Absolutely fantastic job, Professor. I appreciate all of your dedication and hard work. You say you are still missing 14 tracks as of December 15, 2018. I downloaded 1960 Pt. 4 and 1960 Pt. 7 and they bothy still have missing tracks. 55B - Carol Hughes - Let Me Go Lover and 104B - Bill Haley & His Comets - Candy Kisses. Do you have links for the missing tracks or an updated link for the entire parts. Thanks very much and keep up the great work.

55B: Carol Hughes - When Did I Fall In Love is still missing. Disappeared from the list - I have just corrected this omission
