  1. I have three of your missing b-sides: Janie Black-A Heartache Grows, Barbara Evans-Nothing You Can Do, and the Four Coquettes-In This World. Trouble is, they are on old cassettes I made 20 years ago from the original 45's before I sold my records. I will have to record the cassettes onto a disc and then upload to the computer, but I will get them to you as soon as I can. I don't suppose you already have a list of your needs from 1962 and 1963 yet, do you?

  2. I searched my server for the missing but no luck. Good luck and looking forward to '61. Any idiot can rip a CD, but projects such as this requires a lot of effort and it is appreciated.

I regret that I am having trouble with the Janie Black possible upgrade and the Barbara Evans song. When I plugged in my tape deck after these many years, I discovered it no longer seems to work, so am looking for another cassette deck. I will upload those as soon as I can.

  6. Prof
A little house-keeping for you. The art work in #5 is misnumbered as #4. Just a small thing, but I thought you might like to know.
I am loving/enjoying your efforts here, and discovering things I have never heard.
Thank you so much for these collections.

  9. I have been really enjoying going through and listening to all these great songs! Most of the flip sides I was not familiar with, and even a few hit sides I don't think I had ever heard before. Many thanks, Professor!

    1. Yes. By mistake, I've taken the MGM remake, not the original Cadence that I also have. Thank you very much for finding this mistake. For sure, there are many other mistakes: remake instead of original, album version not 45 and I'll greatly appreciate any hint.

  13. Hello Professor,
It took me awhile, as I had to borrow a friend's tape deck, but finally, here are links for Barbara Evans "Nothing You Can Do" and possibly a better copy of Janie Black's "A Heartache Grows."

    1. Many thanks. Two fantastic tunes, Janie Black's especially. Why they are absolutely forgotten? Music of the 50's and 60's is like Sesame and it is enough to say Open Sesame to find music gems. Some of them are hidden and difficult to find but thanks to Oldies lovers from all around the world, sooner or later we will reveal them. Merry Christmas

  15. Hi Professor,
I intended to buy the new 1961 R&B Hits Collection from Acrobat to obtain the 7 Arts version of "I Love You Yes I Do," but from the time listed it appears they may have used the old King version. However, a guy on 45Cat.com says he has the 45, and the time on it is only 2:17, rather than 3:33 as listed on the label. This is getting a little confusing!

  16. The mystery is, the YouTube video of the actual 78 from 1948 has about 55 seconds of music before Bullmoose Jackson starts singing, while the other version on Youtube that also is supposedly the 1948 recording has Bullmoose begin singing almost immediately, and then has an instrumental break in the middle of the song. Could this version be the 7 Arts version, since there is some question whether the time on the label is correct? (Both are way longer than 2:17 though; don't know what's up with that.)

  17. By the way, Professor, unless you've updated it since I downloaded the file, the two Etta Jones songs on Part 2 are incorrect.

  19. Hi Prof.

In your listing of the contents of Part 61.50 you included two tracks by Jimmy Beaumont:

    Beaumont, Jimmy Ev'rybody's Cryin'
    Beaumont, Jimmy Camera

Alas, so far, I cannot find them in the zip-file...

However, apart from some small, similar idiosyncracies, I must say that I greatly admire your "absolutely necessary" project! I'm happily revisiting this period with your help, and I am extremely grateful for the numerous "findings" that escaped me at the time.

    (Hope you find this comment...)

  20. Sorry for my late reply by I have found this comment just today, I'm reading only comments added to the "Comments" (top) post, this is the only way not to get lost. It looks that few months ago I've made some changes in 1961 and didn't update links. To be sure that links are correct, I will replace Zippy by Google Drive, today. Thanks for finding this error and please add comments under the top post.

  21. Thank you for this massive effort. Realizing that any effort like this can contain a mistake, especially if you've changed file hosts, I wanted to point out that part 61.17 is actually a duplicate posting of part 61.18. Just a small glitch in this absolutely wonderful blog :)
