The Mavricks. Obscure pop-rock group. In 1961
released two singles, on Capitol. The first featured
Garry (Alley-Oop)
Paxton.
The second single was produced by Nick Veneta,
a staff producer and talent scout at Capitol Records.
The McCoys. Ronny McCoy (born 1945) and Peggy McCoy (born 1943). Regulars on KSKY (Dallas, Texas) in 1956 and on the Cowtown Hoedown (KCUL, Fort Worth, Texas) in 1959. In 1958 released two singles, on RCA Victor. (RCS)
Tiny Morrie. Real Name: Amador Sánchez. Pop-rock singer, brother of Albert Sanchez (known professionally as Al Hurricane). In 1958 recorded the first single, in Clovis at Norm Petty's studio on, released on Hurricane label. Tiny Morrie would have been around 18 at the time. In the early 1960s he signed a contract with Challenge label and released two singles. All songs were composed by Sanchez Brothers.
In later years Tiny Morrie released a number of albums and singles, for Hurricane
and Dot.
In 1958 and 1959 he was a member of The Hi-Liters and they recorded three
singles.
In 1959, Daryl Petty recorded his first solo
single, for Hornet Records, NC label – he composed both songs. In 1961 he
recorded his second and the last single, for RCA Victor.
Tyrone Schmidling. Obscure country-rock singer. He released his only single in 1958, for Andex (Hollywood, California).
Steve Schulte. Another obscure country-rock singer. In 1957 released two singles, for ABC-Paramount and Felsted.
Duane Schurb. Swamp country-pop musician from Marrero, Louisiana. In 1959, at the age of 17, he released his only single, for Enterprise (Texas). Both songs composed by Sonny Hall, another country singer from Louisiana.
Sherman Scott. Rockabilly singer. In 1959 released his only single, on Freedom (Hollywood, California). He co-wrote both songs, the A-side track features Eddie Cochran on guitar.
Dick Seaton. Yet another country-rock singers. In
1959 he released his only single, for K-Ark (Saint Louis, Missouri) , credited
to
Dick Seaton & The
Mad Lads
Dick Seaton composed both songs. The same year, The Mad Lads released an instrumental single (see Q03).
