Obscure American Artists 1956-1963, Teen 196

 


Joe Ravel. Teen Pop and Doo-Wop singer from Little Italy in the Bronx. 

Eddie Moore. Rockabilly singer and songwriter. Several other artists used this name.

Kenneth Springs. R&B and Doo-Wop singer and songwriter - one single released by Columbia, both tracks written by K. Springs and Don Bradford (Doo-Wop vocalist).


The Honeycones. Pop group from the Philadelphia area. Tony Diarenzo (bass); Ernie Cast (drums); Bobby Federa (alto sax); Bobby Chic (piano); Joey Vail (guitar). The Honeycones were originally known as The Chicklets but due to copywrite problems the name was changed to The Honeycones, a name that Tony created. He also wrote a majority of the songs that they performed. They recorded four singles for Ember, the first credited as Ernie Cast & The Honeycones (see Ta70).

Rick Randell. Real name: Rocco Gaeta, he was born and raised in Newark, NJ. In Jr. High He started a band called The Rockers. This group lasted into High School where they would play for the HS dances. In 1959, as Rick & The Rockers they recorded the first single, for Arc Records. Same year they recorded the second single, as  Rick & The Randells, for ABC-Paramount.

In 1960, ABC Paramount dropped the group, kept Rick Randell (Rocco Gaeta was too ethnic) and he recorded for Apt Records, a subsidiary of ABC Paramount.
Rick Randell recorded for several other major labels: Decca, United Artists, Reprise.
