Wow, wow, wow. Many thanks, I'm really excited. Yes, I'm crazy about Oldies and this craziness has started in 1963, when I was 16, same as you. All my professional life I've been doing research in Electronics and Technology Enhanced Education, more for my career benefits than for the benefits of others, exept my PhD students. Now, when I'm retired, it is time to do the research in Oldies and I'm really very much involved. Practically all songs that you've sent are fantastic, I never heard them before, they completely disappeared. Thanks again and please check my wish-lists for 1960, 1961, 1962.

Professor RnR said...

Many thanks. Each single track from my wish-lists is more than a treasury to me. OK, perhaps in my age we redefining the meaning of treasury. At this moment we are below 20 missing tracks from 1963, out of the total of 1700!!! Please check wish-lists prom previous years.

I'm looking for The Jaynettes' "Instrumental Background To Keep An Eye On Her". Do you have this track, which was intended for Karaoke. With a good software it should be possible to reduce vocal from the A-side - I'm using Audacity and the effect is miserable.

Ernie said...

Sorry Prof, I have from the Jaynettes only the Version from the Jaynetts CD "Sally and all the rest"
And about your wish-list from 1962: I have upload you 7 songs in December ;) Best wishes

Professor,
Is that Sunny and the Sunliners missing title correct? The only trace I can find of "It Won't Be Me" was by Sunny and the Sunglows from the following year. Is this the version that you need? It's on the Sunglow label.

Hi Prof, its me again ;) Maybe it's not important enough to you? But the Version of "Remember Diana" is not the Original. Its a (wonderful) alternate title. This one
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7cP55BKCFc
is the original RCA Single from 1963.
Have a nice day ;)

Hi Professor,
I know you're in the middle of 1963 now, but you may not have noticed I added your missing Fay Simmons track to the 1961 comments last week. Thanks for your continuing hard work on 1963!

Obviously you are right. I remember this version of "Remember Diana" and by mistake I've taken another version from the Best on RCA not checking the content. My big big mistake and many thanks for finding.

Professor RnR said...

Yes, my mistake. The B-side of "Rags to Riches" is "Not Even Judgement Day", both by Sunny & the Sunliners and I have them. Many thanks for finding this mistake.

Professor RnR said...

Many thanks. Sorry that I didn't confirm earlier.

I know that this is a shame for me. I can make a mistake in forgotten track but not in the very popular one. My only excuse is, that I've taken this track from Taragon (very solid label) and the booklet gives all its details, inluding master, release date and chart position - everything wrong. ??? Normaly, when I'm copying a track from CD, I'm listening first, but not this time, I was so sure.

Rolf said...

Imagine, you listen to the radio, they play teenage heaven from johnny cymbal.
Is there a take begin from studio talking? No . You get the music directly.
Please feel with me and change the track or cut the studio talking.
It's not the kind you have listened to and gets to the billboard.

2. I have the original Ben Colder - Hello Walls from tape rescued.
The original from 1963, which have made it to the billboard.
Only that one I have till today. There is a 45RPM on canna.to but with
much scratching.
This one, you have done on the CD is a horrible remake, it's
also on youtube. Please listen to the original, then start the remake.
It's really horrible and wouldn't have make it to the billboard.

Hi Professor,
Here are some poor quality copies of "Portki" and "It's Party Time." You may not want to use them due to quality, but I thought they may be better than nothing.

https://www65.zippyshare.com/v/l4JwAhiw/file.html

As far as the complaints about your mistakes, I too have found one or two songs that I suspected weren't the original 45 versions, but I figured it was better to have an album version than none at all. With all the work you're doing, it's better to just be grateful for what you've done than complain about it, although there's nothing wrong with pointing out an error and sending you the correct version, I suppose. Just wanted to express my thanks, and hope that you'll continue, and not be discouraged.

Hi Professor

Professor RnR said...

Many thanks for finding my mistake. I've taken "Hello Walls No.2" from "22 Greatest Hits Of". There is no booklet, I've checked some other songs from this compilation and they are OK. Times on both the remake and the original differ from the label time, so the only way to detect is to have the original, stored in memory. I admire and greatly appreciate. I'm afraid, there are other remakes in my compilations as it is impossible to detect all of them, probably 10% of around 21 thousands of tracks.

Professor RnR said...

I'll try to clean these tracks and will see the effect. Yes, I'm making mistakes, they are inevitable and please help me to detect them - see my answer to @Rolf above.

Professor RnR said...

Many thanks. Lillie single edit time is 2:59, as on the label you've sent, and I have included this version, unfortunately the quality is poor, even after cleaning. The version that you've sent is definitely an album version, 4:40. Very often, time indicated on the label is wrong, but not by this occasion. Time of the Goodman's track differs from this on the label, should be 2:14, not 1:56 as on the label.

What a wonderful year.
I have found a small mistake this time: the Astronauts Single BAJA was in the sixties often on my turntable. And so,i am sure, that the b-side was KUK-Vocal. You can listen here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBOna-VUNGo

best wishes
Ernie

Professor RnR said...

Yes, you are right. Kuk instrumental, present on many compilations, is the 1st album version. Single version is vocal. I'm a big fan of surf music but I didn't know that. Many, many thanks.

Hi Prof, heres Ernie the corrector again ;-)

811A The Orlons - Bon-Doo-Wah seems to be Bobby Rydell.
Best wishes

JakeBlues said...

The last 3 entries on your list of missing tracks from January 26 are actually in the parts I just downloaded. So that should reduce your list to only 17 missing tracks.

88B - "Cannonball" Adderley Sextet - Lillie (Single Edit, 2:59)
773B - Sammy Davis Jr. - This Was My Love (Single Edit, 3:50)
825B - Jimmie Rodgers - Together

Professor RnR said...

Many thanks Ernie the Corrector. I wonder why this error has happened and don't have an answer. I'm dragging Orlons from their Best Cam-Park what excludes paste-copy error. Rydell recorded also for Cam-Park. Anyway, many thanks and please continue correcting.

Professor RnR said...

88B - "Cannonball" Adderley Sextet - Lillie (Single Edit, 2:59) has many low tone parts and crackles are even louder – I’m looking for better copy.
773B - Sammy Davis Jr. - This Was My Love (Single Edit, 3:50) is my personal edit, made by fading out the album version – I’m not sure whether this is really single edit.
825B - Jimmie Rodgers – Together ending, fade out is not correct, too early – I’m looking for a copy with correct ending.

Dear Professor,

Just wondering how often you update the lists of missing track? Also, what is the means by which one can transmit the files to you? I have no zippy share account, but I do have a few of the songs you have listed previously (don't know if you have received them yet).

Thanks for all of the great music and the effort you have put into this. It is truly amazing!
