Margie Anderson (aka
Margie Madden). African-American
jazz and blues vocalist from Boston active in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1958 and
1959 she recorded two singles, accompanied by the band led by pianist Bob
Freedman. Both singles were released by Scope, the second single was credited
to Margie Madden. In 1960 Margie
released the third single, on ABC-Paramount.
Margie Anderson own CD-issue of a session
recorded in the late 1950s was released in 2001, the material was also issued
on a variety of budget labels.
Margie also recorded for Columbia in the early 1950's. In the 1960s Margie also had, with Margie Anderson billing on, albums with Pearl Bailey, Sarah Vaughn, Maxine Brown, etc.
Frankie Marshall. Rhythm & blues singer, who recorded for Spry in 1954, for Spark in 1955 (some titles leased to Atco, released in 1956), all sessions in Los Angeles, six singles released. In 1958 Frankie Marshall released the seventh single, on Jackpot (label from Hollywood, California). In the mid-sixties he released the last single, on Arc (from South Gate, California).
The Instants. Obscure pop-soul vocal group. In 1962 released two singles, on Rendezvous
(label from Los Angeles) - different A-sides and same flip, Gravy Train, lead
vocal by
Betty Willis (soul singer. few singles between 1962 and 1967).
