The Younger Brothers. Vocal group from Erie, Pennsylvania. Several other groups used this name.

George Freeman. 1960s-1970s soul artist from California. In the early 1960s he recorded on the West Coast, initially for small labels: Gardena and Baytown, in 1963-1964 for Valiant Records (label formed in 1960 by songwriter Barry De Vorzon).

Kevin McQuinn
. Edward James Quinn, Jr. As a young man, Ed was a member of The Mello Kings, who sang "Tonight Tonight".
He continued writing and singing for many years – recorded for Diamond Records (independent label started by brothers Joe Kolsky and Phil Kahl in 1961 and located in New York City) and Vivid Records (label from New York City, launched in 1963 by Bob Crewe).
Although music was always Ed's passion, he made his career in the Hotel and Restaurant business. 



Jim Mitchum. Actor/singer, son of Robert Mitchum.

 

 

 

 


Jim Akins. Born James David Akins  in 1944, in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.
In 1961 he was signed to record his first record for Marlo Records (label from Belleville, Illinois, later based in St. Louis, Missouri).
In 1962 he formed his own 3-piece band called "Jim Akins and the Teen's" in which he became known as "Mr. Rock-A-Billy," Singing and playing his electric piano, all over southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois.
His love for recording though took him back to cut his 2nd record "Walkin the road of love," written by Jim and "Answer From Heaven", in Memphis, Tennessee. In the Fern Wood recording studio with The Bill Black Combo and brass section arranged by Bill Justis, released on Marlo Records.
