George Kelly.
American jazz tenor saxophonist, arranger and bandleader (1915 - 1998), born in
Miami. His credits also include drums and piano. In 1956 he released his first
single, on Apollo. The A-side track, Ain't That Good, with a fetching lyric
chanted in recitative fashion by Sid Wyche, a prolific R&B songwriter.
Between 1958 and 1960 Kelly released four
singles, for Winley, small, New York independent label founded by Paul Winley,
who composed all tracks, except Peter Gunn.
Kelly collaborated with drummer Cozy Cole,
guitarist Tiny Grimes, and many others. In the 1970s and 1980s he released
several lbums.
The Scallywags. Obscure surf-rock instrumental
band. One single in 1963, on Sola - from Phoenix, Arizona.
Jimmy Seals. US guitarist, saxophonist and singer born in
Sidney (Texas) October 17, 1941 and died June 6, 2022. Brother of Dan Seals. In
1958 he recorded two instrumental singles, on Winston (label from Abilene,
Texas). All tracks composed by
Slim Willet aka Telli W. Mils, prolific country music artist.
The first single was credited to Jimmy Seals & His Sax w. T. W. Mills
Orch.
The second single was credited to Telli W. Mils, Carlton re-issue to
Jimmy Seals.
In the 1960s Jimmy Seals recorded several
teen-pop singles for Challenge.
Joe Tanner. Guitarist, songwriter, arranger,
producer from North Carolina. member of The
Bluenotes. He accompanied John D. Loudermilk and Bill Craddock. In 1961
released solo single, on Colonial - label located in Chapel Hill, North
Carolina.
Bob Taylor. Drummer and rock 'n roll
songwriter active in Phoenix, AZ, known for his work with Duane Eddy. In 1960
released the first single, on Caldwell, next two singles in 1962, on Stacy (from
Chicago).
Few other artist of the same name were active
in the 1960s.
Rod Marshall Combo. Obscure instrumental band. In 1961 released
one single, produced by Gary Paxton, for Dot.
Al Taylor & The
Poodles. Obscure instrumental
band, presumably studio outfit. In 1958 recorded one single, for United
Artists, produced by Jack Lewis.
Teacho & His
Students. Obscure
rock-instrumental band, Studio outfit? One single in 1958, on Felsted, also
released in Canada and the UK.
The Techniques. Obscure instrumental band. Another
studio outfit? One single in 1957, on Caddy - Californian label owned by Dick
Hugg. Few other bands active in the late 1950s and the 1960s used this name.
